Floyd Lee Bennett, age 80, of Benton, died Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was born October 20, 1931 in Oklahoma to the late James and Amanda Bennett. Mr. Bennett was employed by Climax in Leadville, Colorado from 1959 to 1973 and then worked at Alcoa from 1973 until his retirement in 1995. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and served as a firefighter for the Salem Volunteer Fire Department from 1976 to 1995. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ina Doris Bennett, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his son, Ed Bennett and wife Jodie of Benton; daughter, Joyce Shaw and husband Greg of Benton; brother, Larry Bennett of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two sisters, Edna Baker of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Ellen Bash of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Leah Mitchell, Lara Mooney, JoAnna Lewey and Kelton Shaw; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Pine Crest Memorial Park.
