James C. Evans, age 80, of Ft. Smith, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was born August 22, 1931 in Gladeville, Tennessee. Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Essex, during the Korean War. He was a retired insurance agent and a teacher. Mr. Evans was of the Methodist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Turner S. Evans and Neva Jeanette Dobson Evans and his brother, Noel Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patsy Hudson Evans of Ft. Smith; daughter, Courtnay Southard and son-in-law Del Southard of Benton; son, James B. Evans and daughter-in-law Angie Evans of Ludowici, Georgia; two brothers, Joe Evans of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Raymond Evans of Lebanon, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jayden, Madison, Grayson and Turner Southard and Cayden Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 16 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Peachtree Hospice at 1001 Towson Ave. in Ft. Smith, AR 72901.
