Obituary

Betty Jane Davis, 87, of Benton, Arkansas, left this world for her heavenly home on January 9, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1938.

Betty courageously battled Alzheimer's and blindness for the final 10 years and six years of her life, respectively. She also dealt with other major health problems, including hearing and auditory comprehension.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents - Virgil and Myrl Johnson of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

A devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, George V. Davis Jr. of Benton, Arkansas; her children - Rick (Roslyn) Davis of Springdale, Arkansas; Greg (Roxann) Davis of Hickory Creek, Texas; and Steve (Stephanie) Davis of Benton, Arkansas; her seven grandchildren - Tyler (Chelsea) Davis of Lowell, Arkansas; Bekah (Joe) Vander Stelt of Alton, Iowa; Weston (Madilyn) Davis of Tontitown, Arkansas; Trey Davis of Bentonville, Arkansas; Devon Davis of Overland Park, Kansas; Dayton and Drake Davis of Hickory Creek, Texas; her four great grandchildren -  Harper and Lily Beth Davis of Lowell, Arkansas and Brynlee Jo and Madden Vander Stelt of Alton, Iowa; her two sisters – Joyce Bickford of Springdale, AR; and Jan (Tom) Leslie of Benton, Arkansas.

A member of Calvary Baptist Church of Benton for 42 years, Betty could be found living out her faith by serving others. An excellent cook and homemaker, Betty was the ultimate hostess. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – making it a priority to attend their many activities. The grandchildren particularly enjoyed her God-given gift of telling unique bedtime stories. Betty's laughter was infectious, filling her home every family get-together. Her quick wit, keen sense of humor, and outgoing personality made Betty a joy to be around regardless of the occasion. Prior to marriage, Betty graduated from business school and worked several years as a receptionist for the Northwest Arkansas Times newspaper in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Following their wedding in August of 1961, the Davis family resided in Fayetteville for 11 years before moving to Garden City, Kansas for 10 more years and finally laying down roots in Benton, Arkansas for the past 42 years of Betty's life.

A visitation is planned for 6-8 p.m. on January 14 at Ashby's Funeral Home in Benton.  The funeral is planned for 10 a.m. on January 15 at Ashby's.
