Betty Jean Green McLehaney, age 93, of Haskell, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025.  She was born September 4, 1931 in East End to her parents, Lona Green & Faye Hicks Green.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill McLehaney; daughter, Susanna; and a host of cousins.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darwin (Nita) Green; and a favorite niece, Leslie McLean.

She started schooling at East End, then to Bryant where she graduated in 1950.  Betty then went to Draughon's School of Business and began employment at Benton State Bank that lasted 23 years.  She was a teller and helped open 3 drive-in banks.

Betty, her mom, and aunt Effie went fishing at every opportunity with poles hanging out the window of her Volkswagen Beetle.  She married Bill on May 30, 1965 and became a mother on November 16, 1973 to daughter Susanna.  This birth ended her banking career & started a career as a fulltime mom and chore lady for the McLehaney Dairy Farm.  Later on she began China painting; a hobby that lasted many years.

She loved fishing, camping, and traveling to see much of the world.  Betty was a devout Christian and served as a church treasurer at Bryant & Traskwood Methodist Churches for many years.

The family wishes to thank Hwy 5 Pleasant Hills Nursing Service and Elite Hospice for their dedicated care.

Pallbearers will be Jay Rhoades, Harrison Rhoades, Jack Sumler, Jeremy Anderson, Mike Ledbetter, and Louis Reindshek.

Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 5 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.  The family requests that everyone dress casual.
