Bruce Kent Green, 72 of Benton, met his lord and savior and joined all the other great fishermen in heaven on June 13th, 2024. He was born on March 7th, 1952, to Gordon and Louise Green. He grew up in Hensley until the age of 5. He lived in Mabelvale, until he was married and moved to Little Rock. He was a 1970 graduate of McClellan High School. He later worked for J. A. Riggs Tractor Company. Sommer's Construction, AP&L. His final career was as a lineman at Entergy. He spent many years making sure people had electricity and power was restored after storms and national disasters. Advancing in his career at Entergy, he was promoted to a supervisor of linemen crew. He served in his capacity until his retirement in 2010.

As a youngster he was a pianist, a cub scout, and a football player. He also broke, trained, and raised horses and beagles. He competed in many horsemanship events at the Chicot Riding Club, where he won many trophies and ribbons. He was also a member of the Cedar Lane Church of the Nazarene.

In adolescence, his hobbies soon turned to the love of cars and motorcycles. His favorite car was his midnight blue Gran Torino and his CZ bike. On any given weekend, you would find him and his buddies at the I-30 Speedway either in the stands or in the pits helping with the cars. Later in life, he became a fisherman like his father, and he loved it. He became an avid fisherman entering and winning a number of bass fishing tournaments. His favorite food to eat while fishing were beanie weenies.

Kent had his mother's personality which was caring, loving, and quiet—until you brought up fishing or stockcar racing. He knew all the great spots to fish in around Arkansas, and unlike other fisherman—he did not mind sharing them.

Kent was a wonderful husband, brother, and a loving, caring, given, and devoted dad and stepdad. He was always there for his family and friends. He was there for all the many sporting events and all the moving episodes. You soon learned not to hurry Kent because that was just not a trait he possessed. He was always kind and giving. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We will especially miss the drive wit, his love, and of course all the fishing stories.

Kent is proceeded in death by his parents, Gordon and Louise Green; brother, Gordon Allan Green; ex-wife, Judy Hollowell; and grandchildren, Waylon and Lillian Still.

Kent is survived by the love of his life Kenya Taber; his sister, Sheila (Jimmy) Somers; daughters Amanda (Kyle) Humphrey), Taylar (Phil) Choi, Brandy Still, and Randi (Mark) Kizer. He is survived by grandchildren Kaitlyn (Jerry) Williams, Ashlin (Ryan) Murphree), Aaron (Randie) Kizer, Harrison Humphrey, Rylee Humphrey, Wyatt Humphrey, Samantha Still, Hannah Still, Carson Still, and Amelia Choi. He is survived by great-grandchildren Baylee, Bentley, and Waylon Williams; Brynlee, Karlee, and Miles Murphree; and Michael and Adalynn Kizer. He is also survived by a nephew Donovan (Laura) Somers, a niece Shelleen (Scott) Bowman, a great nephew Colton (Bekah) Bowman, a great niece Mackenzie (Cameron) Lowrance, and great nieces Emma and Sophie Somers.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 at Ashby Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Salem Cemetery in East End.
