Obituary

Charles Pinkston was a simple man who came into the world on October 3, 1945 … and he was most certainly smiling.

He was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas, where he lived until his family relocated to Bryant, Arkansas, in 1959. He eventually met and married his soulmate, Patsy ("Pat") Farnam, and they continued to make their home in Bryant with their children, collecting countless friends, neighbors and memories along the way.

With work ethic second to none, Charles spent his entire career as a freight auditor. He and his wife Pat also owned and operated P&C Diner in Bryant – a local favorite -- for 14 years.

With never an idle moment, Charles loved gardening, collecting and – most of all – finding and restoring Cushman motorcycles and other items. He was truly masterful at breathing new life into antique or vintage treasures.

The term "never met a stranger" was coined because of Charles. No one loved visiting and talking more than he did, and there was nothing Charles wouldn't do for anyone – anywhere – anytime -- especially if it involved his beloved family or church. Even long-time neighbors came to rely on him, and Charles spent a great deal of time taking care of those who couldn't care for themselves.

Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; daughter Ronda Pinkston; son Jesse Pinkston; granddaughters Jennifer Freeman (Terry) and Heather Overton; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Veda Thompson, Sharon Curths, and Nancy Pinkston; and brother Eddie Pinkston (Jo); sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and a host of extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Orgel and Vergia Perrin Pinkston; daughter Deidra Campbell (Keith); sister Melba Whittaker; sister Eleanor Huie; and two brothers Reuben Pinkston and G.A. Perrin.

Charles stepped into the arms of his beloved Jesus on June 25, 2024 … and he was most certainly smiling.
