Christy Rosanne Smith, affectionately known as "Rosy" to all who loved her, entered her heavenly home on January 8, 2026 after a courageous 5½-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born on June 25, 1949, in Houston, Texas, and a longtime resident of Benton, Arkansas, Rosy lived a life marked by unwavering faith, selfless service, and a genuine love for people.

Rosy devoted her life to serving Jesus and sharing His love with everyone she met. As a young bride and mother in Texas, she taught elementary school and served as a pastor's wife in Morgan Mill, Richland Springs, Lolita and Venus.  For 16 years, she served as a missionary in Guatemala and Mexico with the International Mission Board, faithfully ministering to God's people. Throughout her lifetime, she poured herself into ministry through hospitality, compassion, and leadership. She led Sunday School, taught True Love Waits, organized women's ministry events and Bible studies, taught VBS clinics, and led WMU women with enthusiasm. Whether through meals, haircuts, or a piece of homemade pie, Rosy continuously served those around her, modeling the love of Christ.

For 12 years, Rosy served on staff at First Baptist Church Pleasanton, Texas, and First Baptist Church Pearsall, Texas, as Senior Adult Minister. In that role, she lovingly planned events, organized trips, played games, and visited members weekly, always finding joy in bringing joy to others.

Rosy's love for people extended deeply into her family. She expressed that love through acts of service, baking everyone's favorite birthday cake, preparing holiday feasts, and ensuring that every gathering was filled with laughter, games and decorative touches to make each special! No one left her home without a full stomach and at least one round of Garbage or Hand and Foot, and everyone knew that Rosy liked to win!

Even through her battle with cancer, Rosy's faith never wavered. She faced each challenge with courage and grace, holding fast to her life verses, Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid; for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go" and 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness". Her strength, perseverance, and joyful spirit were a testimony to her desire to glorify God in all circumstances.

Rosy is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, James Douglas Smith; her children, Lantz Smith (Amber) and Marci Smith Langston (James); her cherished grandchildren, Connor Smith (Megan), Taylor Langston Rogers (Rickey), Emily Langston, Micah Langston, Makayla Smith and Michael Smith; her brother, Jimmy Stohler (Jennifer); and her sister-in-law, Deanna Stohler. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and steadfast faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille Stohler, and her brother, Lucian Stohler.

A Celebration of Life will take place at First Baptist Church, Benton, Arkansas, in Selph Hall

on January 13, 2026 with a visitation at 10:00am and service at 11:00am, and at First Baptist Church, Bertram, Texas, on January 17, 2026 with a visitation at 10:00 and service at 11:00. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram, Texas.

There is no doubt that when Rosy stepped onto the streets of gold, she was greeted with the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
