Obituary

Claudine Guffey Ramsey of Benton passed away peacefully at her home December 5, 2023, she was 86. Ms. Ramsey was born October 8, 1937 in North Little Rock to the late Claude and Corine Page Guffey. She was a 1955 graduate of North Little Rock High School and later graduated from Draughn's School of Business. Prior to going to work in the insurance industry Claudine taught dance at the Arthur Murray school of dance. She worked many years in the insurance industry and was a small business owner before retiring in the mid nineties. She also became a certified Monitor Tech and worked in the ICU/CCU at Saline Memorial for several years in the late 1980's. Claudine has been a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church for many years where she enjoyed participating in The Senior Saints and Widow's Ministry and in past years teaching the teenage girls in VBS. Before moving to Benton in the 1960's Claudine was a member of 47th Street Baptist Church in North Little Rock where she taught the teenage girls Sunday School Class and participated in numerous other ministries. Mrs. Ramsey was an Alderman on the Benton City Council for five terms from 1994-2004 where she served on the Utilities, Health/Safety, and Animal Control Committees. She also served on the Boards of the Saline County Boys and Girls Club, The Saline County Senior Adult Center, and Hurricane Creek Federal Credit Union and was chairman of "The Old Fashioned Day Celebration" for a number of years until her health prevented further community service.

Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy H. Ramsey, two brothers Carroll Guffey of Perryville and Coy Guffey of North Little Rock, sister-in-law, Nelda Guffey and nephew Greg Guffey also of North LIttle Rock. Brothers-in-law Jim Ramsey and wife Hazel and George Ramsey Jr.

Surviving Mrs. Ramsey are daughters Claudette Zuber and husband Jerry of Benton, Angela Ross and husband Larry of Bryant, son, Britt Ramsey and wife Jay of Benton, 11 Grandchildren; Nick Zuber (Melissa), Alaina Mitchell Coleman (Allen), Katie Zuber Davis (Jon), Dustin Pearson (Micah), Joe Zuber (Jessi), Joshua Zuber (Amanda), Jill Henley (Billy), Brittony Ramsey Lovell (Curtis), Erica Ramsey, Taylor Brewer (Zac), and Josh Looper. 17 Great-grandchildren; Sophia Colon, Madie, Jack, Lathan, Jeremiah, Ellie, and Dylan Zuber, Larson and Benson Davis, Graham and Davis Pearson, Lane and Caroline Henley, Cannon Mitchell, Ava Lucas, Isla Brewer, and Ashla Lovell, one sister Peggy Carlton and husband Jeff of North Little Rock and sister-in-law, Jan Guffey of Perryville. Also surviving Claudine are Brother-in-Law Jack Ramsey and wife Mattie, Sisters-in-law, Martha Lequieu, Janie Penn, Billye Ramsey, Louise Houpt and husband Albert, and Carole Gaiser and husband Bernie all of Saline County. Mrs. Ramsey is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends and one very close life-long friend, Beverly Gibbs Bodenhammer of Fayetteville formerly of North Little Rock. Claudine and Beverly became friends at the age of 5 and 6 years of age and have remained best friends since that time.

Family visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4 at Ashby's funeral home and funeral service will be Monday at 1pm at Sharon Baptist Church on Shenandoah Drive in Benton. Bro. Scotty Nalley and Bro. Laramie Lequieu will officiate. Grandsons will be pallbearers..
