Donna Virginia Roberts, age 69 of Hensley was welcomed by the Lord through the gates of Heaven. Just a few days after her birthday June 29, 1954. She was greeted by her Mother, Father, Sister and countless others that had went on before her to prepare a beautiful place in Heaven for her. I'm almost certain that someone has already ask her to make a cake.

She is survived and celebrated by her SOULMATE and husband of 50 years, John Paul Roberts. Her two sons, Paul Roberts (Stephanie) of Little Rock. Neil Roberts (Liz) of Redfield. Her brother, Chester Hanson (Debra) of Bauxite. Three very special people had the privilege to call her Nana; Marleigh Rink (Destin) of Maumelle, Cade Mill (Brooke) of Denver, CO, and her newest found blessing Little Henry Rink.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Chester Hanson as well as her sister Diane Toth.

Donna retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 27 years in 2017. Since that time, she has enjoyed her golden years with her SOULMATE by her side and at her happy place on the lake. Together they travel for leisure, serve on countless mission trips, as well as serve at their church's food pantry. They are active members of Indian Springs  Baptist Church and enjoy serving with the Senior Adults. For two retired people they sure did a lot and did a lot for others. She and her husband certainly embodied a service for others mentality.

Donna was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and that is where she called home for most of her life. When she was younger, her family settled in the small town of Dalhart, Texas. She had a special place in her heart for a small West Texas town, but nothing compared to her admiration for the people she met there. Even with an affection for Texas, she was still the biggest Razorback fan I knew. Her and her husband loved gathering at the lake to watch any Razorback game that would be on. They loved hosting get togethers at the lake with their friends and family to watch the games as well. In High School, Donna's mom introduced her to a young man that her mom worked with. I'm not sure what Jean expected but that introduction shaped the next 53 years of Donna's life. She and that young man were married on February 2, 1973. At 18 years old they became one. Four years later they had their first son Paul and almost 11 months later here came Neil. She quickly became outnumbered, but she certainly wasn't outgunned. Her humor and quick wit allowed her to keep up with the Roberts boys and even allowed her to win most times. As the years went on and the boys grew up, Donna became quite the cake baker. There were countless weeks where she would spend hours of every night making cakes for people. A lot of those cakes were made for people she didn't know, just word of mouth from family, friends and coworkers kept her busy. She made every cake with the love and the attention it deserved. Her name was on it, and she wanted that person to have an exceptional experience. In fact, if you're reading this, you've probably had one of her cakes.

To know Donna was to know a person that was giving, gracious with her time and someone who certainly loved her family and the people she kept close. More importantly than that, she loved the Lord. She was a witness to so many and lived a life completely in favor of God. The only person Donna loved as much as the Lord was her husband, John Paul. She admired and appreciated him more than any one person. True to his fashion, those feelings were reciprocated by him. The two of them are examples to so many of what a healthy relationship should be. They are a testament of True Love. They are SOULMATES.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday at Indian Springs Baptist Church with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery. Ministers will be Bro. Tom Williams and Bro. Matt Duran.
