On July 30, 2025, Edith Jeanette Shoptaw, 93, of Traskwood, Arkansas, slipped peacefully from world and into the arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born July 5, 1932, in Traskwood, Arkansas.  She was retired from the Arkansas Health Center and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Traskwood. During her time on this earth, she was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and perhaps the world's most extraordinary grandmother. She was known for her quick wit, sarcasm and dry humor that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing long after the moment passed. Her legacy lives on in the hearts she shaped, the traditions she nurtured, family she loved, and the many weekly meals she prepared for them all (second helpings were never optional).

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Morris Shoptaw; her parents, Richard and Grace Sanders, of Traskwood, Arkansas; and her dear daughter-in-law, Janet Lynn Shoptaw.

She is survived by her children, Tony (Pam) Shoptaw of Benton, Arkansas; Terry (Linda) Shoptaw of Alma, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Derek (Courtney) Shoptaw, Nick (Jessica) Shoptaw, Alli (Travis) McDonald, Chelsea (Jesse) Mairhoffer, Taylor Shoptaw, Kenneth Pearson and Reanna Minton; her great grandchildren, Carson Shoptaw, Shanna Shoptaw, Mia Harrell, Lorelai Mairhoffer, Jack Hixon, and Braydon Robinson; and her dearest friend, Mary Sue Abercrombie.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton. Graveside service to follow at Traskwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Derek Shoptaw, Nick Shoptaw, Travis McDonald, Jack Hixon, Brayde Robinson and Jim Dodderidge.
