He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Nikki Garner Chapman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years Gene Waynette Pelton Chapman, two daughters Leah (David) Harmon of Beebe, Arkansas, Kalli Chapman of Paducah, Kentucky; stepson Erik Coleman of Benton; stepdaughter Amanda (Chad) Dodge of Deville, Louisiana; sister Donna Waller of Tennessee; grandchildren: Ayden and Michah Garner of Conway; Emory and Jaxon Chapman, both of Paducah, Kentucky; Westin, Madilynn, and Maylee Coleman, all of Benton; Brody Dunnahoo and Dakoda Ballard of Benton and Kason Ballard of Gilbert, Arkansas; cousins Pat & Tina Campbell of Benton; and his beloved dog Maxxi Jane.
Eddie worked a variety of jobs throughout his life to provide for his family. He was always described as a dedicated and loyal employee. He studied architecture and learned to draft and design. He enjoyed being a machinist making small drink cans. He woke before sunrise to prepare the Clinton Library for guests from around the world. He could also make an excellent pizza from scratch!
Eddie had a faith testament and was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
Eddie graduated from Benton High School in 1978. He loved to relive his glory days as a proud Fighting Panther! He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, loved attending softball games and listening to his favorite band, Journey all while drinking copious cups of coffee.
The family would like to thank the Gentiva hospice team. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity closest to your heart in his memory.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
