Emmit Merle Zachry, 91, of Benton Arkansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 23, 2024.

Born November 7, 1932 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to Daisy Slaton Zachry and Emmit Grady Zachry. He served three years in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.  He had a 44 year career driving for Trailways / Greyhound bus line taking him to every state in the U.S.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Francis Crunk.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bernice Jones Zachry, four daughters; Sheri (Rickey) Thomas of Little Rock, Debbie (Bo) Melvin of Benton Arkansas, Janet (Coy) Peach of Maumelle Arkansas, and Melissa (Mike) Flemister of Piperton, Tennessee. Two sisters, Martha Hughes of Broken Bow Oklahoma and Lucy Westervelt of Littleton Colorado, and one brother, Rodney Zachry of Camden, Arkansas. Emmit was also blessed with 11 grandchildren: Brad (Crystal) and Blake (Laura) Thomas, Andrea (Allen) Cooper, Amanda (Scott) Parsons, Zachry (Hayley) Melvin, Michael (Taryn) and Matthew (Ashley) Peach, Morgan (Crey) Maxey, Madison (Austin) Freeman, Kara (Daymon) Eriksen, Kayla (Mike) Jones. 18 great grandchildren: Bryce, Colton, Griffin, and Parker Thomas, Emma and Lily Cooper, Abby and Jake Parsons, Ava Melvin, Croy, Camden, Carter and Collin Peach, Preston and Conan Maxey, Ellis Freeman, Carson and Brody Eriksen.

His favorite hobby was his family and he kept his wit until the very end.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. at Ashby Funeral Home.

Funeral services (Ashby Funeral Home) will be Monday October 28, 2024 at 12:00, graveside to follow at Pinecrest cemetery.  Officiant - Billy Coke

Pallbearers - Grandsons: Brad and Blake Thomas, Zachry Melvin, Scott Parsons, Austin Freeman, Michael and Matthew Peach and Great grandson Bryce Thomas.
