Obituary

Erma Dean Matuszyk, 83, of Little Rock entered into rest Sunday, October 6, 2024.  She was born October 21, 1940 in Hollis, Arkansas to the late Chester Arthur Tallent and Ava Lee Davis Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman John Matuszyk of 53 years.

Erma was a devoted wife and a friend to all who knew her. Even after her retirement from Kroger as a meat-wrapper and years of service on the United Food & Commercial Workers Union contract negotiating committee, she continued to find ways to enjoy people. You could find her ushering events at War Memorial Stadium, including Razorback football games and concerts like Guns N' Roses, as well as serving as an Assistant Chief Judge for the Pulaski County Board of Election Commissioners. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word search puzzles, and loved sports, particularly football. However, the Olympics always won out as her favorite pastime.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings; brother, Clinton O'Neal Tallent, sister Ada Louise Bata, and brother, Charles Arthur Tallent.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Bosshardt and husband Chick of Malvern; daughter, Pamela Felan and husband Joe of Little Rock; son, John Louis Matuszyk II and wife Jennifer of Little Rock; and a bonus daughter, Leslie Minick Brown and husband John of Hensley; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Ashby Funeral Home followed by a Chapel service at 2 p.m. and all who knew her are invited to share in this celebration of her life. Burial will follow at Traskwood Cemetery.

A special thank you to Dr. Brad Baltz for his unwavering care and commitment to finally getting her cancer free.
