Frances Irene Kane, 96 of Benton, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023.  She was born on July 27, 1927 in Peeler Bend, Arkansas.  Irene was a homemaker, a great cook and a fisherman.  She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, and Past Worthy Grand Matron with Congo Hill OES #620.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and James Wilson, her husband of 69 years, Jimmy Kane, children, Mary Jo Wachob and John Kane, and 9 siblings.

She is survived by a son, Jim (Barbara) Kane, Jr. and a brother, Sam (Glenna) Nalley of Chattanooga, Tennesee; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Marty) Sadler, Stacye (Chad) Sloan, Betsy (Jason) Meharg, Rus Wilson, Jim (Wendy) Kane, Katy Kane and Collin (Brandy) Kane; seventeen great grandchildren, Blaine, Jon and Kane Sadler, Josh and Blake Seals, Emma Covington, Abby, Jack, Lydia, Lily and Josh Meharg, Suzanne, Madeline and James Kane, John and Zackary Dent and Arthur Kane; two great great grandchildren, Amelia and Holden Seals.

Pallbearers will be Rus Wilson, Jim Kane III, Collin Kane, John Dent, Zackary Dent, Marty Sadler, Jason Meharg, Chad Sloan.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class at Salem United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be at Ashby Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 2nd, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Church services will be at Salem United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 3rd at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Dan Read officiating.  Burial will follow at Pipkin Cemetery.
