Garland Rex Osbahr, age 80, of Hot Springs, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025.  He was born in Logan, Iowa on November 9, 1944 and was raised in Woodbine, Iowa.  After high school, he joined the Navy where he finished boot camp and headed to Millington, Tennessee for further training.  Garland met Nell, the love of his life, and they were married for 60 years.

He could do most anything & worked several jobs in Saline County including Reynolds, and ended his working career serving 19 years with McGeorge Contractors as a supervisor.

Garland had many hobbies & loves including fishing, spearfishing, camping, chess, banjo pickin', and building crappie beds.  But his favorite things were his Nellie and spending time with his family.  Garland loved his four granddaughters and always said his 6 great-grandchildren were the best medicine of all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Lyle Osbahr and Betty Bernadine Osbahr; brother, Dennis D. Osbahr; and sister, Marva Jean Osbahr.

Garland is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ida Nell (Gossage) Osbahr; three children, Dennis Lyle Osbahr (Leah), Garland David Osbahr (Rachel), and Ida Jill Brazil (Kevin); four grandchildren, Jessica Renae Fitzwater (Philip), Megan Elizabeth Osbahr, Ida Elizabeth Nix (Trevor), and Holly Lynn Covert (Duncan); six great-grandchildren, River Fitzwater, Truitt Fitzwater, Eloise Nix, James Nix, Ozzie Fitzwater, and Lucille Nix; two brothers, Jerome Osbahr and Terry Osbahr (Judy); and numerous nieces, nephews, & friends.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, January 25 at Ashby Funeral Home with memorial services beginning at 11:00 am.  Bro. Bob Burchfield and Bro. Bill DeYoung will be officiating.  The family will have a private burial at a later date.
