Obituary

Gary Lynn Donnor of Buckeye, Arizona, and Estes Park, Colorado, passed from this world into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 21, 2023, at the age of 67. His wife and son were by his side.

Gary was born to Margaret and Ralph Donnor in Benton, Arkansas, on August 30, 1956. Growing up, Gary attended Trinity Baptist Church where he was saved by God's grace in January 1968.

He attended Bauxite High School in Bauxite, Arkansas, where he played guard on the football team, enjoyed basketball, met his future wife, made lifelong friends, and graduated in 1974.

Gary attended the University of Missouri at Rolla where he graduated in 1978 and earned a BS in Chemical Engineering. While attending UMR, he pledged Kappa Alpha Order/BA Chapter.  On December 29, 1979, he married Sallie Jo Pompe in Benton, Arkansas, and they remained devoted to each other for almost 44 years. Gary was delighted when his son, Zachary, was born on July 1, 1992.

He spent the last 24 years of his career working at Albemarle Corporation in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, until he retired to begin a new chapter in life in the fall of 2020.  Gary lived with Sallie in eight states, including Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Colorado. In all of these places, he appreciated and enjoyed all four seasons in their God-given beauty and loved to look for wildlife.

Gary enjoyed many pursuits including golf, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and sudoku. He was an ardent reader of Scripture and nonfiction books. Gary loved his dogs, enjoyed making people laugh and smile, and was an ardent supporter of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Arizona Coyotes hockey teams.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; his mother, Margaret; and his big brother, Steve. Gary is survived by his wife, Sallie; his son, Zachary; a niece, Jennifer; and nephew, Aaron; Brother-in-law, Frank Pompe; Sister-in-law, Katy Tully Pompe; and two more nephews, Joe and Frank T; and a niece, Susie. His two dogs, Angus and Pumbaa, will miss his ear scratches and pets.
