General Eugene Thompson, age 88, of Benton passed away Monday, February 5, 2024. He was born December 15, 1935 in Bauxite. Gene was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church of Benton. He was retired   from Reynolds Metals and served in the US Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Velma Angermiller Thompson, brother, Aaron Thompson, infant son, infant granddaughter, Kathleen, son-in-law, Perry Appling.

Gene is survived by four children, Chuck Thompson, Shari Appling, Michael Thompson and Gary (Shelly) Thompson, nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Minister will be Bro. Bob Warford.
