Genevieve McWhorter Mitchell, age 95, of Haskell, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 4, 2026. Born on March 12, 1931, in Lonoke County, Arkansas, to Everett Alvin McWhorter and Annie Alma (Langford) McWhorter, Genevieve lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family.
Genevieve shared fifty wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, H. Caleb Mitchell, Jr. Together, they shared a life grounded in faith, devoted to family, and filled with love.
A committed Christian who loved Jesus with her whole heart, Genevieve's faith was evident in the way she cared for and loved others. She faithfully served through her church and touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and servant's heart. She and Caleb were active Gideons for many years, sharing God's Word throughout the United States.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Dee) Fite, Lanny (Sherri) Fite, Deborah Steele, Dianne St. Germaine, and Suzanne Pennington; stepdaughters Margaret Alsobrook and Melody St. John; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Imogene Graham, Jack McWhorter, and Ann Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H. Caleb Mitchell, Jr.; and her siblings Viola Layfield, James McWhorter, Juanita Graham, and Gladys Hardin.
A visitation will be held at Ashby Funeral Home, 108 W. Narroway, Benton, Arkansas, on Saturday May 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Minister Roger Moore will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Adam Fite, Jeff Mitchell, Mason Pennington, Justin Steele, C.W. Steele, and Scot Weser.
Genevieve's legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
