Dr. George V. Davis Jr, 87, of Benton, Arkansas, left this world for his heavenly home on March 27, 2025.  He was born on February 22, 1938.

George is preceded in death by his bride of 63 years - Betty J. Davis of Benton, his parents – George V. Davis and Ellie Davis of Conway, and brother Dwight Davis (Carol) of Mabelvale.

He is survived by his sisters - Ruth (Travis) Acklin of Conway; Susie (Dan) White of Conway; Janet (Craig) Grantham of Greenbriar; and Brenda (Gary) Reynolds of Conway; his children - Rick (Roslyn) Davis of Springdale, Arkansas; Greg (Roxann) Davis of Hickory Creek, Texas; and Steve (Stephanie) Davis of Benton, Arkansas; his seven grandchildren - Tyler (Chelsea) Davis of Lowell, Arkansas; Bekah (Joe) Vander Stelt of Alton, Iowa; Weston (Madilyn) Davis of Tontitown, Arkansas; Trey Davis of Bentonville, Arkansas; Devon Davis of Overland Park, Kansas; Dayton and Drake Davis of Hickory Creek, Texas; his four great grandchildren -  Harper and Lily Beth Davis of Lowell, Arkansas and Brynlee Jo and Madden Vander Stelt of Alton, Iowa.

George was a devoted Man of God and Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church of Benton for 42 years. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity.  He also served on the board of Farm Bureau.  A diligent student and lover of learning, George obtained his BSA in Dairy Science, his MS in Animal Nutrition, and his PhD all at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. George parlayed his education into a role as an Animal Research Scientist for Kansas State University in Garden City, KS from 1972-1982. He then practiced as a State Livestock Specialist for the U of A Extension Service in Little Rock from 1982-2002. A gifted writer, George published many research articles during his career and provided leadership in a number of extension programs - receiving numerous awards for his contributions.

But above all, George was an exceptionally selfless, servant-hearted man - excelling as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Without fail, George never forgot a single birthday or special occasion for any of his loving family - always sending a hand-written card and generously giving far beyond what would normally be expected. George and Betty were happily married for 63 years until the Lord took his late wife home this past January. There is no greater example of Christ's love for his bride than the unwavering, steadfast care George lovingly provided to Betty throughout her last years on this Earth - without complaint and never expecting anything in return. We take solace in the knowledge that they're reunited once again, without pain or suffering, in the presence of their Savior.

A visitation is planned for 5-7 p.m. on March 31 at Ashby's Funeral Home in Benton.  The funeral is planned for 12 p.m. on April 1 at Ashby's Funeral Home.
