Glenda Sue Keene, 86, of Benton, Arkansas, left this world for her heavenly home on November 27, 2024.
Glenda was born on April 17, 1938, in Traskwood (a small community in Arkansas). She was the daughter of Millord Sherman and Thelma Jewell (Wilder) Sullivan. Glenda was disabled with the use of only one arm, but, even so she was an athlete in softball. She was a high school graduate and attended Henderson College.
Glenda loved to travel. She also enjoyed living in Thailand, France and Italy before returning to Benton. She worked at Smith Caldwell Drug before retiring to her home to enjoy her many flowers and working in her and her husband Floyd's amazing garden. She loved to can food and give things away to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her blind sister Gloria Ann Sullivan (age 34) along with her husband, Floyd Lee Keene. She was a devoted mother to Tim Frazier (Jennifer) and Memaw to Mitchell Frazier, Madison Frazier and three great grandchildren: Ryleigh, Carter and Gracelynn Frazier. She was an awesome aunt, sister-in-law and friends to many nieces, nephews and others. She is leaving behind hundreds who will miss her including sisters-in-law Sue Pruitt, Cora Powell and Doris Keene, members of the Hurricane Baptist Church (where she sang in the choir) and fellow ladies of Eastern Star Congo Hill.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to The Manor in Benton both Assisting Living and Memory Care units. The staff at this facility were a blessing in helping Glenda through her last years. The staff there treated her like family. Also, a big thank you to the Hospice Care Home in Little Rock. Words are just not enough for the people at these two facilities for their love and care.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 2 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
