Obituary

Harrell H. Davis Jr, 83 of Benton was joyously welcomed into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 14, 2024. His life was a testament to resilience, service, love of family and unwavering faith.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1941, he attended Central High School during desegregation. Central High School was closed and he was forced to uproot his life and move to Houston to graduate. He then returned to Arkansas and attended what is now the University of Central Arkansas, where he excelled as a pitcher on the baseball team. He loved the game, but more than that he loved his country. So, when he felt the call to serve, he made the brave decision to join the Marines where he served for 8 years. He joined the Little Rock Fire Department in 1962 where he retired as a firefighter after 36 years, with the last 10 years at Engine 3, the busiest company in the state of Arkansas. However, if you asked him his biggest accomplishment he would quickly say his family.

Missing his smile and love is his wife of 59 years, Judy Davis. He raised two daughters and passed Christian principles and the importance of family on to them, Stephanie McConnell and husband Don of Colleyville, Texas and Jenny Nichols of Benton. Grandchildren that loved him dearly are Lindsey McConnell of Colleyville, Texas, Kallee, Jenna Kate, and Tyler Nichols of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrell and Annie Davis Sr. and 3 sisters, Carolyn Slaughter, Linda Self and Debbie Cates.

The family will have a visitation on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 6-8pm at Ashby's Funeral Home in Benton with a celebration of life service on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 10am at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Benton.
