Hazel Juanita Brown Davis met Jesus face to face on March 23, 2025.  She listened to the church service online with her granddaughter, Tonya. Then she listened to "The Goodness of God," by Cece Winan.  When it was over, she took one breath and was in the presence of our Lord and Savior.  Hazel was born August 17, 1931, in Humnoke, Arkansas to Arlon D. and Princess Golleher Brown.  Like the song she wrote about her place card at God's table, she took her place at His table.  She is playing one of the 10 instruments she played and singing in the Heavenly choir. Maybe even singing one of the over 200 songs she wrote glorifying God. She was best known for her yodeling for Jesus.  She was raised in a very musical family and continued to share that with her children and grandchildren.  She lived a beautiful life for the Lord.  She counted on him for everything and praised him always. She worked hard in later years to receive her GED.  She received her Ministerial license through correspondence.  She spoke at many women's meetings.  In her lifetime she taught Sunday school, Bible school, children's church, and booster bands.  Hazel and her children, and later her grandchildren, traveled together and sang and played for the Glory of God.  Now her great grandchildren are playing and singing too.

Hazel was married for 55 years to William E. "Buddy" Davis.  He predeceased her in 2012.  They spent their senior years traveling to bluegrass festivals, where Hazel performed many songs she wrote.  She recorded 3 albums onsite at the festivals.  Hazel wrote many wonderful stories for her family, and they have been passed down to the 3rd generation. Hazel loved working in the garden and yards, she had the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood.  She was a seamstress, and she loved to quilt.  She was a mighty prayer warrior and never passed up the opportunity to tell someone about God's love and offer to pray with them.

Hazel was predeceased by her parents and husband, (sister) Delores Oglesby, (brother) Carroll Lee Brown, (daughter) Sharon Murray, (son-in-love) Buford Boggs, (grandson) Jason Davis, and (great granddaughter) Madison Nicole Bailey.

She is survived by her son, William Davis (Penny), daughter, Emily Boggs, and son-in-love, Gary Murray.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tonya Bailey (Chris), Bethany Notari, Jonathan Davis (Baylee), Michael Murray (Brittany), and Weston Davis.  Her great grandchildren are Austin Bailey, Nikoha Hampton (Cameron), Makayla Notari, Kylie Notari, Madilyn Davis, Chloe Davis, Bella Davis, Carrigan Davis and Cecily Davis.

We, along with many friends, family, and the fellow residents of Amberwood, especially her roommate Betty and dear friend Julia, will miss her.  She was the glue that held us all together with her love and prayers.  Special thanks to Amberwood Nursing and Rehab for taking excellent care of her over the past few years and treating her and us like royalty!  We love you!  Thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their special care in the end.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 at Ashby Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Social Hill Cemetery.  Sean Dudley will be officiating.
