James Martin Baker, 73, of Benton, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. He was a local goldsmith jeweler and designer. He worked for Baker's Jewelry in Bryant for twenty years, but was originally from Salinas, California. "Jimmy" as he was affectionately called, made many people happy by making them exquisite new jewelry designs or redesigning their older jewelry. He also loved gardening, swimming, and playing dominoes with his grandson Spencer.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Milton Lincoln & Billie Mae Baker and a brother, Richard Baker.
He leaves behind a small family in Benton, Arkansas, his wife, Joni; daughter, Jami; and grandson, Spencer, as well as two sisters-in-law, Cheri Green and Holli Treece (Michael). Jimmy also leaves three sisters, Laurie Young, Chris Malloway, and Katy Hee; and one sister-in-law Judy Baker. He leaves two brothers, Robert and Matthew Baker; and many nieces & nephews in California and Arkansas. He also leaves behind many friends and colleagues in central Arkansas. Jim has a sweet and generous soul, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Ashby Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
