James Ross Rogers, 70, of Benton passed away on Sunday, May 19th in the presence of his loving family, and in the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ after having recently been diagnosed with kidney cancer.

James was born in Longview, Washington on October 29, 1953 and spent the majority of his youth years along the West Coast. James was the baby of five children born to the late Lora Mae and James Monroe Rogers.

James graduated from Benton High School in 1972 and upon graduating attended courses on auto body repair. When James was 20 years old, he joined the Fire Department for the City of Benton and served as a Firefighter for 7 years while also managing his own auto repair shop. James spent a little time working for State Farm before opening a paint-less dent repair business, that he successfully owned and operated until this very day.

James was a craftsman of all kinds from wood-working to auto body expertise. He loved antiques and searching for unique finds, whether it be automobiles or pottery. He had a thrill of sharing his adventures and treasures with those he loved. The joy of the road trip in search of his latest gem might have been his favorite part.

He spent many years, and he and his sons share fond memories of hunts, at Deer Camp in Carthage. James found the utmost delight in his later years through spending time with his 5 grandchildren. He shared his hobbies and knowledge with them, while also joining in on their childhood adventures specific to each grandchild. James was also a beautiful vocalist, and used his voice and song as a joyful noise unto the Lord. He was asked by many to sing at all kinds of gatherings.

James was always more than willing to share his talents, treasures, and stories with anyone that needed, wanted, or would just sit a while and visit.

James is survived by his two sons, Jaret Ross Rogers (Kisha), and Jordan Ramsey Rogers (Emmy); 5 grandchildren who called him "Pawpaw" Ramsey, Margaret, Georgie, Millie, and Kate; 2 siblings Horace Rogers, and Kathy Camp; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends he considered family. James was preceded in death by two of his siblings Sue Reynolds, and Leroy Estell.

A special thanks to his niece Jill Shuffield, close friend for many years, Chris Tropp, and Janice Rogers, mother to Jaret and Jordan for all the support and commitment you showed James and the family up to his final days. We also want to thank Abbey Wake, Sarah Richardson, and Betty Richardson for the care and attention they showed James and his family during this time.

A visitation service will be Thursday, May 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, and the memorial service will be held at Sharon Missionary Baptist on Friday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to stay after the service for refreshments in Fellowship Hall.
