James Randall Townsend, age 72, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026. He was born on January 14, 1954, in Sheridan, Arkansas.

James was a retired Rural Mail Carrier and sheet metal worker. He was a faithful member of Northside Church of Christ. He enjoyed umpiring softball games, watching sports, spending time with family, and was an avid reader who enjoyed reading, storytelling, and time spent with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elmo Townsend and Patsy Jean Rasico Townsend, and granddaughters, Erin Breann and Oliva Rose

James is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Scott Townsend; his daughters, Ashley (Jeff) Wilcox and Stacy Townsend (Scott Knoedl); his son, James Scott Townsend; his brother, Jeff (Constance) Townsend; his brother, Mark Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM.

James will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his family, and strong work ethic.
