Jewel "Wayne" Cochran, age 89, of Benton passed away on September 22, 2024.  He was born on January 19, 1935 to the late Jack H. and Luda Barron Cochran.  After retiring from Reynolds in Bryant, Wayne enjoyed hunting, gardening, finding deals at flea markets, attending sporting events for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and si-fogging.   He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Benton.

The last several years of his life Wayne spent hours on his "deer stand" (backporch) with Bowie watching deer in the pasture, having meals with friends and family, watching westerns, and enjoying a cold treat from Sonic.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Theresa Gail; brother, Bobby Cochran; sister, Marie Hudson; and great-granddaughter, Tinlee Dreher.

Wayne is survived by wife, Oretha Cochran;  son, Jacky Cochran (Pam); daughter, Credonna Dreher (Jim); four grandchildren, Jaclyn Williams (Robbie), Justin Cochran, Cody Dreher (Stacy), Kalin Dunning (Russ); 11 great-grandchildren, and his favorite family member, granddog Bowie.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Elite Hospice Team for the support and care provided to keep PawPaw at home.

He will be cremated.  To honor his wishes, there will be a small graveside service to bury his urn and his ashes will be spread where he spent many hours turkey hunting.

He will be missed.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Pipkin Cemetery.
