Obituary

Jimmy Lee Powell, age 75, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on September 5, 2025.

He was born on March 23, 1950, in Benton, Arkansas, to the late Charles Powell and Bobbie Carter. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Jimmy served his country with courage and distinction. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, honors that reflect his bravery and dedication.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette Powell; his children, Ann Powell, Lynn Wesley, and James Powell; his grandchildren, Clinton Powell, Alicia Wesley, Marissa Wesley, Rebecca Wesley, and Meghan Powell and Kaylee Jodrey; and five great-grandchildren who brought him joy. He is also survived by his sisters Sharon Faust, Gail Parnell, and Connie Rudder, and his brothers Chuck Cornelius and Steve Powell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Freeman.

Jimmy was known for his unforgettable "tall tales." His stories were so convincing that people were never quite sure where the truth ended and his imagination began—but they always brought smiles and laughter. That gift of storytelling, along with his generosity and love for family, will be cherished by all who knew him.

Even in passing, Jimmy's legacy continues. As an organ donor, his impact will live on through the lives of many other families.
