Joyce
Staggs
Nov 21, 1934 — Oct 8, 2024
Benton
Joyce Staggs, better known to many as "Ma" a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, at the age of 89. Born to Alfred Kitchens and Virgie Spears Kitchens on November 21, 1934, Joyce spent her life deeply devoted to her family and those she held dear.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her brother, Bill Kitchens, and her husband —the love of her life—Charles Staggs. Joyce is now joyfully reunited and dancing with Charles in heaven.
A proud resident of Saline County for her entire life, Joyce graduated from Bauxite High School and took great pride in being part of a legacy that spanned four generations of Miners. Her family followed in her footsteps, continuing the tradition at Bauxite, which filled her with immense pride. Joyce also retired as a caregiver from Stoneybrook Nursing Home where she served the elderly residents of Saline County for more than 35 years.
Joyce is survived by her three sons, Randall Staggs, Steven Staggs (Christie), and Michael Staggs (his late wife Glynis Staggs). Ma's legacy of love continues through her grandchildren: Amy Dixon (Pete), Brandon Staggs (Jamy) Casey Staggs (Melissa), and Jessica Van Hoose (Chase). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Kylee Wehlage (Zach), Carson Gibbons (Chris), Tyler Staggs, Josie Staggs, Annabelle Staggs, Liliana Staggs, Harper Van Hoose, Landen Van Hoose, and Dash Van Hoose, as well as her great-great-granddaughter, Charlee Bryant.
Joyce's greatest joy in life was her family. She attended every birthday party, ball game, and special event she could, from the time her children were small until just a couple of months ago watching her great grandchildren. Known for her sassy spirit and sharp wit, she said exactly what was on her mind and wanted nothing more than to be with her family. Her family finds comfort in knowing that Joyce has found peace and is now with her beloved Charlie. She leaves behind a family who adored her and will carry on her legacy of love, strength, and Miner pride.
