Larry Joe Watson, age 78 of Little Rock, Arkansas stepped into the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 20, 2026. He was born on April 7, 1947 in Hot Springs to Joe Marvin and Muriel Watson.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to March 1970, where he achieved the rank of sergeant and was stationed in Beale Air Force Base in California and Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. His time in the service reflected the discipline, courage, and quiet patriotism that remained with him throughout his life.

For over 40 years, Larry faithfully served as a Primitive Baptist preacher. He was called to preach in 1980 and was ordained on March 17, 1984. He pastored Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Little Rock, but his ministry was felt in every conversation throughout his life. A ministry that was marked by a deep love for scripture, a steady voice of truth, and a shepherd's heart for his congregation.

He was a devoted husband to Annette Watson for 58 years. Their marriage, beginning on November 5, 1967, was built on faith, love, and unwavering commitment. He was a proud and loving father to Angela Christine, Larry Paul, David Anthony (Tony), and Joshua Allen. Nothing brought him greater joy than his family.

Known for his incredible physical strength and tireless work ethic, Larry spent much of his life working in construction and hard physical labor. A true renaissance man, he could build, repair, and create nearly anything with his hands. He had a rare artistic gift in architecture and building, seeing beauty and possibility where others only saw lumber and nails. His craftsmanship stands as a lasting monument to his talent and dedication and can be seen in barns and fences he built all over central Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Angela, his father Joe Marvin, mother Muriel, and aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife Annette Watson; his children Larry Paul (Jennifer), David Anthony, (Marsha) and Joshua Allen (Brooke); grandchildren Taylor Venable, Drew Watson, Cole Watson, Madeline Watson, Lake Watson, Caden Watson, and Mackenzie Watson; great grandson Tatum Hornaday; siblings Deborah Holladay (Charles), Tom Watson (Connie); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends.

Larry will be remembered for his steadfast faith, quiet strength, generous spirit, and the legacy of love and integrity he leaves behind.

A visitation will be held at Ashby Funeral Home on Friday, February 27 beginning at 10 AM. Funeral services will be immediately following at 11:00 with Casey Grisham officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
