Lawrence Alfred "L.A." Geurin, 95, of Benton, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was born in Benton, Arkansas on November 4, 1928 to the late Claiborne Thomas Geurin and Velma Ward Geurin.  L.A. served many years as a dedicated firefighter and retired from the Benton Services Center in 1986 as the facility's Fire and Safety Chief.  He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and attended Benton Masonic Lodge #32.  L.A. was a long time member of Sharon Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, walking, traveling, and participating in his children's scouts and sports activities. All the kids in the neighborhood and ballpark knew they could find a piece of candy in his pockets! If you couldn't find L.A., just go look in the garden. He could grow the prettiest tomatoes in the county! L.A. also enjoyed carpentry and building anything from a bird box to an entire barn or house!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Lenard Geurin, wife Cecelia Joyce Geurin, and wife Marion Warford Geurin.

L.A. is survived by daughter Cheryl Love-Doddridge (Mike), daughter Fran Geurin Nichols (Terry), son Tony Geurin (Leslie), daughter Ann Carman (Dec-Manuel). He also had 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas.

A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Doddridge on Saturday, June 15 at 10:00am at the Lindsey-Poyen Cemetery in Poyen, Arkansas.

Honorary pallbearers are R.L. Oden, Lynn Oden, Robbie Robertson, Ronnie Robertson, and Rusty Geurin.
