Lexie Faye
Magby Spickard
Mar 9, 1922 — Aug 14, 2023
Bauxite
Our beautiful Mother Lexie F. Magby Spickard born March 9, 1922 entered her heavenly home Monday August 14, 2023. We want the world to know she will be greatly missed. She was the last living child of Lonnie & Buell Bonner Magby's 11 children, Dewell, Clayton, Donald, Geneva, Jean, Millie, Elllavonne, Zulu June plus 3 others who did not survive infancy.
She was married to Owen L. Spickard for 62 years before he passed in Oct 2000. They raised 6 rowdy kids, Maizie Walden, Judy Hulse,
Richard Spickard, Deborah Vance (Gary), and Steven Spickard. Timothy Spickard passed in January 2001. They were blessed with seven grandchildren, Kelley Hulse Townsend (Cindy), Brett Spickard, Laura Walden, Garron Spickard (Jodi), Dustin Vance (Elizabeth) and Corey Vance (LeAnna) plus 2 step grands, Matt and Adam Greer. Blake Spickard passed away April 2021.
Nine great grandchildren, Summer Spickard, Kali Spickard, Lexie and Sydney Vance, Bridger Chandler, Kimber and Harley Vance and 2 great step grands, Annabelle and Luke Hall.
Lexie has been a member of Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church since 1952 when she stepped out in the aisle carrying a 6 week old baby. She attended that church with her siblings in tow since a small child.
She attended Mt. Olive School and was on the girls basketball team.
She was a stay at home Mom, always putting family first. There is a host of family and younger people who thought of Ms Lexie as their Mother, Grandmother and Aunt. To name a few, John Hugh West, her best friends' son, same birthday. Luke Purifoy, her childrens' friend, and her nieces and nephews of her deceased brothers and sisters. All of her children, grandchildren and currently one great grand child attended Bauxite Schools. She has probably attended more sporting events and acitivities than anyone else, even when she had no family in the events. There have been times when the neighbors kids knocked on her door for Grandma's biscuits. She made it to 101 years, 5 months and 5 days. When she reached 100 years the mayor of Bauxite proclaimed March 9, as Lexie Spickard Day.
Funeral arrangements by Ashby Funeral Home with services conducted by Dwight Fite on Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 am.
Visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Mt Olive Cemetery, 3700 Mt Olive Road, Bauxite, Ar.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Mt Olive Charitable Trust Cemetery. PO Box 432, Bauxite, AR. 72911
