Marvin E. Richey, of Benton, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, in Hot Springs, Ark.  He was born to the late Morgan Paul and Myrtle Singleton Richey. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Richey is survived by his wife of 63 years and love of his life, Margaret Alice Burrow Richey.  He is survived by their five children Libby (Rob) Kloap, Curtis (Lisa) Richey, Dennis Richey, Cheryl (Tom) Berry, and David (Carrie) Richey. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, John (Dani) Kloap, Elizabeth (Michael) Harrelson, Jaron (Katy) Kloap,  Shawnee (Justin) O'Brien, Ramsi (Stuart) Duke, Will (Mollie) Richey, Sarah Rose (Justin),  Sarah Williams, Levi Richey, Emma Williams, Maurin Richey, and 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Richey is also survived by his sister Mildred Joyce (Murray) Van Lone.

Mr. Richey was preceded in death by his parents Morgan and Myrtle Richey, his brother Morgan (Lois) Richey Jr., sister Linda (Bill) Burnett, and grandson Joshua Berry.

The Richey family has a long tradition of military service, dating back to the American Revolutionary War.  Mr. Richey served 21 years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed in Alaska, Texas, France, Kansas, and Missouri. Upon retirement, Mr. Richey was employed by the Benton Police Department, Saline County Sheriff, and the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Mr. Richey retired from the Arkansas Department of Corrections after 20 years of service. (1984-2004)

Visitation will be Wednesday from Noon to 2 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton.

The Full Military Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home with burial following at McPherson Cemetery at 4202 Salt Creek Road in Benton.
