Peggy Jean Lovell Shell, age 87, of Benton, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Sunday, September 14, 2025.  She was born on October 31, 1937 in Benton, Arkansas, the daughter of John F. Lovell Sr. and Lola Richmond Lovell.

She graduated Benton High School in 1955 and enjoyed her work at Benton State Bank and Smith Caldwell Pharmacy, but her greatest joy was raising her two children and enjoying her church family.

Peggy was a longtime member of Kentucky Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 63 years, Keith Shell; and her brothers and sisters, Thad Lovell, Morris Lovell, J. Keith Lovell, John F. Lovell Jr., Narrie Lancaster, Mae John Swaty, and Eva Lee Elder.

She is survived by her children, Lendall Shell and his wife Laurie and Karmen Jamison and her husband Eugene; four grandchildren, Ryan Shell and his wife Jordan, Alex Shell, Luke Jamison and his wife Samantha, and Jenna Kelley and her husband Keith; great-grandchildren, Brighton Jamison, Claire Kelley, and Juliet Jamison; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 at Ashby Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial to follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Kentucky Missionary Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
