Ralph Ellsworth Hirby Jr., 63, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on June 28, 2025, surrounded by the family who never stopped loving him. Born on November 26, 1961, Ralph's life was one of twists and turns, stubborn pride, and — in the end — a quiet seeking of forgiveness and peace.

Ralph was a proud Marine, and a complicated man, but to those he let into his heart, he gave all that he could. The love of his life, Freda Hirby, stood by him for 31 years of marriage — a testament to her devotion and the bond they built through thick and thin.

Of all the blessings in Ralph's life, none shone brighter than his granddaughter, Dakotah Smith. He adored his "baby girl" beyond measure. She was the light that helped soften his edges and bring out the best parts of him. He was endlessly proud of her and cherished every moment they spent together.

Ralph is also survived his brother, Oscar Hirby of Little Rock; his sons, Brandon Hirby (wife Tasha) of Conway and Trevor Hirby (wife Erin) of Morrilton; his granddaughters Bailey and Makayla; his step-granddaughters Carter "Peanut",  Emmy "Bubbles", and Dakota Jenkins; and his stepdaughters Kerry Jenkins (husband Anthony) and Kasdy Shelton (husband John); along with nieces and nephews. His family circle was wide, and each person held a place in his story.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Ellsworth Hirby Sr. and Ruby Hirby, and by his sister, Shirley.

Ralph found peace in life's simple pleasures — fishing, trips to Buckville, and spending time out in nature. His favorite destination was Walmart, where he loved spending his money on his grandbabies — who "only got what they absolutely had to have," which usually meant a little more than that.

Though Ralph could be hard to love, those who knew him best understood his heart. In the end, he sought salvation and forgiveness, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is finally at rest.

Ralph leaves behind memories of laughter, stubbornness, and unconditional love for his "baby girl" and his family — memories that will be treasured and passed on for generations to come.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at Ashby Funeral Home with a Celebration of his Life beginning at 2:00 p.m.
