Richard (Rick) Newlun, age 74, of Benton, passed on from this life on February 26, 2025. Born March 1, 1950, in Jacksonville, IL, Rick was a loving Father and brother and never met a stranger. Rick proudly served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War. After his service, he had a successful career as a truck driver spending over 30 years traveling the country. He loved life and would enjoy family gatherings and being outdoors. He would often be seen walking around downtown Benton with his beloved Great Dane Thor who we all agree was his favorite child.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Merl and Wanda Newlun and 2 brothers Timothy and Teddy Newlun.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Gloria Campbell of Benton and Cheryl Carmikel of Florida, Daughter Monica (Corey) Robbins of Tull, Son Richard (Amanda) Newlun of Benton, 6 Grandchildren, Jonny Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Hunter Newlun, Brennan Robbins, Jonathan Clark and AnnaMarie Robbins. 1 Great Grandchild, Lilly Newlun and a host of nieces and nephews as well as special friend Charlene Cooper.

Visitation will be held at Ashby Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 @ 9:00 am with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m.

Interment services will be held at a later date.
