Robert Gary Parsons

April 19, 1947 – April 15, 2026

If you need a smile, just listen close and you'll hear the joyful, unmistakable laugh of Robert Gary Parsons. It was a bellydeep, boisterous laugh—infectious and full of life—one that could be recognized across a room and linger long after it faded. Often, as he launched into a story, he'd pause, grin, and say, "Hold on, hold on, let's start again," and everyone nearby knew they were in for something special. His smile shone just as brightly as his laugh, reflecting the kindness and warmth of his heart.

Heaven grew a little happier on April 15, 2026, when Robert gained his wings.

Robert was born on April 19, 1947, in Shaw, Arkansas, to Robert Euell Parsons and Mae Miller Clark. He graduated from Bauxite High School in 1965 and went on to continue his education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for two years.

On May 16, 1987, Robert married the love of his life, Jan. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, laughter, and family. They raised six beloved children: Shane Parsons (Stephanie), Adam Parsons (Becky), Angel Cuffel (Joe), Laura Smith (Ward), Wesley Parsons (Allison), and Tara Morgan. Their home was further blessed by ten grandchildren—Clay, Michael, Hannah, Claire, McGregor, Tori, Andrew, Errol, Adrian, and Cohen—each of whom brought Robert immense pride and joy.

Robert is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister and best friend Sandra "Sissy" Pelton, brother Terry Parsons (Sherry), sister June Lovell (Lanny), and many beloved family members and friends.

Robert's professional life reflected both his drive and his gift for connecting with people. His passion for sales began early while working at Union Bank. He later joined Goodyear selling tires, where a lifelong spark was ignited. Over the years, Robert held many roles—mostly within the tire industry, but also exploring other interests along the way. Eventually, he fulfilled a longheld dream of owning his own business and sharing it with his family when he opened Parsons Tire in June 2010. He remained proud of that accomplishment until his retirement in May 2017.

Above all else, Robert lived a life devoted to serving the Lord. He believed deeply in sharing God's love through both words and actions. His personal ministry—lovingly known as the Church Fan Mission—was one of his greatest joys. Robert purchased church fans in bulk, printing each with church information on one side and, on the other, his signature smiley face alongside the words: "Smile. Jesus Loves You." It was a simple message, but one that perfectly captured who Robert was and what he believed.

Robert's life was marked by generosity, faith, laughter, and an abiding love for family. His presence filled rooms, lifted spirits, and reminded everyone around him to pause, smile, and start again if needed. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and joyfully reunited with those who have gone before him.

Celebration of life with visitation and service will be held at New Life Baptist Church in Alexander on Sunday, April 19 at 2:00pm.
