Obituary

Roman Gabriel Metcalf, age 38, of Benton, departed this life on Monday, July 14, 2025.  Born July 8, 1987 in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was a lifelong resident of Saline County where he lived surrounded by friends and family.

Roman was a 2006 graduate of Bryant High School where he was a member of the Bryant Hornet Band throughout his academic career.  He was an enthusiastic member of the Boy Scouts of America earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 2005 as part of the BSA Troop 17.

Attending Pulaski Technical College, Roman earned an Associates Degree in General Studies, a Certificate of Completion in IT and a certificate in Machining.  He was employed at Machined Extrusions, Inc. of Little Rock as a machinist, a job he greatly enjoyed.

Roman had a natural curiosity and love of learning which was reflected in his various hobbies and interests.  These included Civil War history, hunting, fishing, beekeeping and the propagation of unique plants.  He enjoyed tinkering with his old trucks, intent on fixing them himself. He often researched the parts needed and enlisted the help of others when he got stuck.

Roman was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Benton.  Church was an important part of life as a child and young adult and it was here where he accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 10.  He faithfully attended Sunday School, VBS, church camps and other youth activities where he developed many life long friends.  We rejoice in knowing that Roman is with his heavenly father and others gone before him.

Roman is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Mona Hinds; grandparents, Irvin and Eilene Metcalf; uncle, John Hinds and cousins Stephen Hall and Bryce Metcalf.

Left to cherish Roman's memory are his parents, Martin Irvin Metcalf and Karen Hinds Metcalf, who were blessed to have him in their lives for 38 years.  Roman was born a long awaited child and brought joy into their world.  Also left is his brother, Micah Metcalf (Kaylee); nephew, Peyton Metcalf; niece, Mallory Metcalf and bonus nephew Spencer Patterson.   Roman will be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends he made throughout the years in school, work and church.
