Sidney Jean Morris, age 87, of Benton, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025.  She was born July 24, 1937 in Funkstown, Maryland.  Sidney Jean graduated from North Hagerstown High School in the Class of 55.

She had numerous jobs including:  Brach's Candy Company in Chicago Illinois; Teletype Corporation where she was a Key Punch Operator in Chicago Illinois, Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Little Rock Arkansas, and Saline County Tax Collectors office under Nancy Elrod's Term in the early 90's; and Co-Owner & Manager of Meyer's Dairy Bar for over 18 years

Sidney Jean was a member of Bryant United Methodist Church where she was active in the Craft Bazaar, a chaperon at all 5th Quarter dances on Friday nights, and a member of the Saline County Quilters Guild since 1984 where she contributed by providing a meeting place for a very committed group of "GIRLS" who worked on Donation quilts to be donated to the Arkansas Children's Hospital and the VA Hospital for Veterans.  She often bragged on the Guild for Donating 260 quilts in 2024.  Sidney Jean was always entering quilts & wall hangings in the local quilt shows and the County Fair where she won numerous ribbons for her work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arbie Sweigert & Lana Martz Sweigert; two brothers, Ronnie "Dutch" Sweigert and Roy "Denny" Sweigert; and a sister, Deanna "Dee Dee" Tarner.

Sidney Jean is survived by her husband that would have been 60 years in April, Bobby Don Morris; two children, Terra Sue Morris and Travis Blake Morris; grandson, Travis Soren Morris; three brothers, Fred Sweigert of Boonsboro, Maryland, James "Jimmy" Sweigert of Hedgesville, West Virginia, and Gary Lynn Sweigert of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and a sister, Carol Irene Winters of Hagerstown, Maryland.

Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to:  Saline Co Humane Society, Arkansas Children's Hospital, or St Jude's Hospital.  All of which she was passionate about.
