Obituary

On July 8, 2023, Tad Elmer Furrer, beloved father, brother, son, uncle, and friend, departed this world for eternity much too soon.

Tad was born August 9, 1956, to Jessie and Eldon "Chick" Furrer in Little Rock, Arkansas. The third child in a family of four, Tad spent his childhood outdoors with his brother, Tim, and teasing his sisters, Pam and Kathy.

At the age of 17, Tad enlisted in the U.S. Navy, honorably serving his country for four years as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. After his service he settled in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he raised his dear sons, Scott and Steve. He spent his days working for the county where he considered his peers family, providing each with a special nickname.

Tad loved being outdoors. He was a talented hunter, fisherman, and gardener – generously sharing his bounty with friends and family. He was a hard worker and an excellent caretaker and steward of his family's land. He never missed an opportunity to help throw a family gathering, barbecue, or fish fry. He was devoted to his family, diligently caring for his parents as they aged. He shared many wonderful characteristics with his parents including his father's love of the outdoors and his mother's friendly and sociable spirit. He was a dedicated and loyal friend who wouldn't hesitate to lend a helping hand.

Tad was a tall, strong man with a kind spirit and gentle heart. To know him was to love him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh that will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He loved John Wayne, country music, and super sweet muscadine wine.

Tad is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Chick Furrer, and his brother Timothy Eldon Jay Furrer.

Tad is survived by his sons, Scott (Jesica) and Steve (Haleigh), his sisters, Pam Willard (Van) and Kathy Woods (Steve), his grandchildren, Bryce, Leland, Clark, and Piper, and his loving girlfriend, Kara Cole. Tad also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
