Thomas "Tom" Pierce, age 79, of Benton, passed away on Saturday May 31, 2025.

He was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey on November 2, 1945.  He moved to Talco, Texas at two weeks old where he was raised & graduated high school.

Tom joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1963 where he served his country for 10 years, including 3 tours in Vietnam.  He received many medals & awards during his service, including the Presidential Unit Citation, Purple Heart, and many more.

Upon completion of his time in the U.S. Marine Corp, Tom continued serving others as an officer of the Benton Police Department and the Alcoa Security Division.  His favorite pastime was bass fishing on Lake Fork in Texas.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Susan Pierce; three daughters, Dana Hansis (Barry), Tonya Smith (Tony), and Vicki Nalley; cousin, Bobby Elrod (Barbara); eleven grandkids; thirty-eight great-grandkids; five great-great-grandkids; and a host of other family & friends.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Thomas Paul Pierce; mom, Nancy Ruby Traylor Blackwell and bonus dad, John Blackwell; sister, Dorothy Paulette Pierce; daughter, Lisa Marie Moore; and a great-grandson, Dylan Moore.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Ashby Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Ashby Funeral Home.
