Wayne L. Smith, 86, of Benton, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025.  Born June 20, 1939 in Benton, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Inez Smith of 55 years; parents, Roy & Juanita Foster Smith; three sisters, Sue Burks, Dorothy Lawrence, and Ester Rogers; and a grandson, Nate White.

Wayne is survived by three sons, Kendall Smith (Judy) of Benton, Todd Smith of Little Rock, and step-son Terry White of Benton; four grandchildren, Sydni Varhalla (Steven), Colton Smith (Bailey), Blake Smith, and TJ White (Jessica) all of Benton; six great-grandchildren, Cash & Cohen Smith, Stetson Varhalla, and Hallie, Peyton, & Chevy Lynn White; and his siblings, George Smith of Sperry, Oklahoma, Robert Lee Smith (Amanda) of Traskwood, Mack Smith (Vera) of Leola, and Doris Keene of Russellville.

He retired from Alcoa, where he worked for 31 years.  If you knew Wayne, you knew his passions were his love for the Lord, turkey hunting, and Benton Panther & Razorback football.  His love for his family was a deep unconditional commitment.  His sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant everything to him.  Wayne loved to talk and no matter how the conversation started, it always ended up with him talking about turkey hunting, football, or his family.  Anytime someone had a question about something in the bible, he had an answer.  He loved telling turkey hunting stories and he never met a stranger.

Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 26 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery.  Bro. Mack Davis will be officiating.
