W.T. "Tom"
Hunnicutt, Jr.
May 25, 1936 — Aug 21, 2023
William Tommy Hunnicutt, Jr. passed away on August 21, 2023. Confident of his faith in Jesus Christ and sure of his salvation, Tom peacefully entered eternity after a life well lived. Tom was born to the late W. T. and Nellie Smith Hunnicutt, Sr. in Benton, Arkansas on May 25, 1936. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and Earlene Hunnicutt, his cherished wife of over 57 years. Tom's work with youth extended beyond Holland Chapel with many years dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America. Leading a Troop with his lifelong friend Ed Dawson and other men of exceptional character, they shared countless adventures best captured in Norman Rockwell paintings and Mark Twain novels as they helped shape the lives of hundreds of young men.
For over 40 years, Tom worked in human resources for Westinghouse and Philips Lighting in Little Rock, with a brief interruption to serve in the US Army. After his military service, Tom returned to Saline County, where he met and married Earlene Caruthers on July 10, 1965. Tom spent his life trying to find new ways to spoil his treasured bride every day until her passing last year.
A loving brother, father, grandfather and uncle, Tom is survived by his best friend and brother Jerry (Barbara) Hunnicutt of Benton, sons Brice (Kristie) Hunnicutt of Longview, TX, John (Angie) Hunnicutt of Benton, AR, grandchildren Craig, Erin, Brooke, Britt, Paige and Ben, nephew Tony Hunnicutt, dozens of cousins, countless friends and precious care givers.
