Melba F. Bishop, age 82, of Benton, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014. She was born November 15, 1931 in Benton, Arkansas. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. She graduated from Benton High School in 1949. After high school, she attended and graduated from Draughon School of Business. Mrs. Bishop worked at Gunn's Distributors and then 28 years for the Saline County Government. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Fern Lovell.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne M. Bishop; son, Wayne "Bub" M. Bishop, Jr. (Missy); two daughters, Lisa B. Berry and Amy B. Ashcraft (Dennis); five grandchildren, Barton B. Singleton (Danielle), Anna L. Ashcraft, Daniel B. Ashcraft (Brittany), Payton E. Bishop and Wayne "Trey" M. Bishop III and three great-grandchildren, Hallie G. Bragg, Sawyer W. Singleton and Kobe W. Ashcraft.
Pallbearers will be Bart Singleton, Daniel Ashcraft, Trey Bishop, Dennis Ashcraft, Terry Jerry and Kim Singleton.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, January 27 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28 at Spring Creek Baptist Church with burial at Kentucky Cemetery. Dr. Terry Parrish and Bro. Kim Hammer will be officiating.
